We all wish that with the end of May, also put an end to the gloomy weather of the past few weeks to enjoy outdoor events…
Let's stay optimistic, we will be able to enjoy the first rays of sunshine in June in various events dedicated to wine all over France. Like every month, here is the Beaux-Vins selection of events dedicated to wine that you should not miss !
The 20 June: Les Estivales in Pessac-Léognan
Summertime, the open day in Pessac-Léognan, will take place on 20 June. Twenty-two Bordeaux estates will welcome the public without an appointment, during this event which aims to give the signal for the resumption of wine tourism.
"It's a matter of morale., affirms Philibert Perrin, president of the wine union of Pessac-Léognan. We have to play the recovery game”. The Bordeaux appellation union therefore maintains the Estivales on 20 next june. During this open day, the public can be received without an appointment 10 to 19 hours, in twenty-two properties including several Crus Classés of Graves.
Among the participating domains, eight offer country lunches (by reservation and if the sanitary measures allow it), in partnership with food trucks or caterers. Initially, the Estivales were to be held on 13 June, the Saturday before Father's Day. The union preferred to postpone the demonstration, “which gives us one more week to adapt to government measures regarding catering”, resumes union president. Measures which should be confirmed on 2 June.
Launch a positive dynamic
These Estivales remain an optimistic bet for the wine syndicate. On the side of barrier gestures and protection protocols, most areas have already or will have resumed their wine tourism activity and will be run in. The great unknown remains the participation of the public. Will he be there ?
“We will probably operate in slow motion”, predicts Philibert Perrin. “With the measures related to covid-19, the visit system is heavier, it mobilizes more people and represents a significant cost for the properties. We don't know if we will have many registrations, but we do it in a positive dynamic. We have to show that activity is picking up again.”
Remember that visits are free., and tastings too. The castles offer many free workshops and events, like this vertical of great white wines at Château Latour-Martillac, the equestrian show at the Château de Rouillac, or the assembly workshops of Château Bardins and Château Lafargue. And icing on the cake : practically all areas benefit from very beautiful parks or large spaces to discover.
