A table of vintages is an essential tool for choosing your wine, especially when it comes to keeping it. Here is the Fine Wines table that I use.
This morning, a crazy idea occurred to me. What if I went to the first article I wrote in this blog ? Well, I'm not yet megalomaniac so I looked at the second instead - the first concerned reasons for creating the blog —. I came across the article containing the table of vintages. I took the opportunity to make it nicer - he was not folichon… —.
The new table of wine vintages
You were waiting for it, it is finally available ! You will discover thanks to this table, my buying recommendations for the different vintages.
Is the notion of vintage reliable ?
This is the time when I have to be honest ?
The vintage corresponds to the year of harvest and the weather conditions of production. Deducing the quality of a wine based on these simple criteria is highly open to criticism. The best way to judge a wine is to taste it.
The vintage table is only a rough indicator giving you an idea of the quality of a wine according to its year of production. It should not be taken literally.
If you have to remember at least one thing, it is commonly accepted that 2005, 2009 to 2010 are very good years. However, it is possible to have very good surprises in other years, including the most "mediocre". Only good producers can get out of the game during a tough year. As the saying goes, "Better a vigorous little grower, than a big lazy producer "especially when the weather is bad.
One last clarification is in order. Do not forget the role of the trader that I presented to you in The Mariannes of wine…
Do not hesitate to let me know your impressions of your experience in the comments. You can also follow your wine blog with Instagram.
Thanks Jon,
je suis ravi de voir que tu lises mon blog d'Oslo !
It is still early to add the vintage 2018, but this vintage will be added as soon as possible. Il y a aussi de grandes différences entre l'est et l'ouest de la Loire. To do well, it would be necessary to make a table of vintages by appellation…
Thank you,
Beaux-Vins
Thank you for a very interesting table. It lends itself well to prints on A4, which leaves room for at least ten additional lines.
Je suis d'accord pour diviser les Rhônes entre sud et nord, but I also find that there is a big difference between Bordeaux left bank and right bank, particularly the Pomerol and Saint-Emilion region. J'attends avec interêt l'addition colonne 2018.
Merci d'avance de la part de M. Jon A. Dahl, Oslo, Norway.
Thank you Claude for this advice (as always) advised. I will have to look into the question indeed, if only to differentiate white and red wine !
Thank you for this proposal 🙂
In this table of vintages, ne mettre qu'une seule ligne pour les Côtes du Rhône..!! The difference is often very large between northern and southern…
Hello!
Now that we are in 2021 it will be interesting to see the table of vintages updated for 2019, and maybe also 2020 ?
It is said that the Millesimes that end with a 5 and a Zero often are exceptional vintages.
During this Covid period we have time to keep our noses in the glasses, I am convinced that the bouquets of wine kill these viruses.
Happy New Year and Vintage 2021.
Regards Jon, Oslo
Hello Jon,
thank you for this great message and happy new year to you too !
Indeed, I thought about it a little while ago and the update of the table is planned as soon as I have a moment to get down to it 😉
