While you thought you had seen and drunk it all, discover the wine to have an aperitif with your cat. Beaux-Vins tells you all about cat wine…
You come home after a long day at work and you would like to enjoy a glass of wine. Unfortunately, you live alone and you don't have the motivation to go out for a drink in a bar with friends. No problem, you just need to adopt a cat and have a drink alone together to stop feeling guilty about tasting your wine when you come home from work.
A niche invention
This "wine" is called Nyan Nyan Nouveau, in other words Meow new. La société B and H Lifes, which produces pet food in Japan, launched this trendy product in 2013 just 1’000 copies, it turns out that Beaujolais Nouveau has considerable success in Japan and that it was impossible to pass it on to your cat.
The origin of this drink would come from the many owners of felines who wrote to the Japanese firm, to ask him to create a special drink for their cats. A festive drink, so they can party too.
Do not panic, this drink obviously contains no alcohol. It is only a concentrate of vitamins, of 0,01 % Cabernet Franc grape juice - wine you say ? - and catnip extract. The Nyan Nyan Nouveau is sold on the online store of B&H Lifes, for only 410 yens, that is to say 3 euros the bottle of 180 ml.
An invention that flops
The New Nyan Nyan had it all in a country where half the population is single and cats are almost revered - they are the protectors of childhood —. Except that here, people like wine, but cats don't like Nyan Nyan. A dealer still tries to sell the stock by announcing on a sign " 90 % cats don't want to drink it […] To be honest, most cats don't want to drink it, but this product was developed for those who still want to give it to their cat. Maybe they will drink it ... "
The return of wine for cats… in the USA
After a huge failure in the land of the rising sun, cat wine is back. Available in red or white version, these drinks for kitties bear the sweet names of "Pinot Meow" and "MosCATo". Lucky for our wine-loving felines, these drinks do not contain alcohol but a mixture of catnip and beet juice.
You are an old maid and you have fifteen cats ? What if you had a little glass of red with your pets instead of waiting for Prince Charming? ? The good news, you can do it in the United States thanks to the American company Apollo Peak.
No risk that your four-legged friend ends up throwing up butter all over the place : all these "wines" do not contain a drop of alcohol. In place, some water, catnip - the famous "catnip" - and a little organic beetroot juice for color. Count all the same between 3 to 10 euros the small bottle.
Discover Apollo Peak
Apollo Peak did not really invent the butter cutting line, since 2013, the Japanese firm B&H Lifes was already offering its version of cat wine : the "New Nyan Nyan". A blend of Cabernet grape juice, some vitamins and catnip. A red beverage that smells of wine and is believed to mimic its taste, but which has the major flaw of being based on grapes, food that can be toxic to felines… Unlike beets, says veterinarian Katy Nelson to the Huffington Post, who nevertheless recommends consulting a specialist's advice before giving a glass of Pinot Meow to his feline companion.
If you want to drink a little red ball with your cat, everything should be put in place to make him feel as relaxed as possible. Prepare him a good bowl of croquettes to nibble on, a very soft cushion and on the evening's program, a classic of cinema : The Aristocats. A good glass of Pinot Meow, and you are sure to hear it purr until the end of the night.
