This week was the Tubula d'Automne event, a meeting proposed by the vintages of Tavel. I present to you here an article in the manner of a feedback.

Tubula d'Automne to discover the vintages of Tavel

From 19 to 25 October took place the beautiful Tubula d'Automne event by the Crus de Tavel. For the first time and for our greatest happiness, it took place in Paris as well as in Lyon and Avignon.

A very nice selection of restaurants and cellars to eat have been selected to offer us a magnificent tasting experience around the vintages of Tavel. Indeed, each of them dedicated an autumn dish to a Tavel wine. This happy marriage between the culinary creativity of the chefs of each establishment and the varied styles of Tavel vintages can only seduce.

Rosé wine in autumn, it's possible

This event has the particularity of revealing to us that rosé wine is not to be savored only during the summer period.. It is true that we too often tend to associate rosé wine with pétanque and barbecues.. Yet, gastronomic rosés are wonderful allies for your autumn tables !

At the gates of Avignon, Tavel stands out in front of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyard. On the right bank of the Rhone Valley southern – or if you prefer the southern vineyards -. Indeed, Tavel is the only Rhone appellation to offer us only rosé wine. Nine grape varieties come together to offer us a very varied palette of styles. Grenache, only compulsory grape variety, is associated with Syrah, the Mourvèdre, the Cinsault, Clairette, the Bourboulenc, the Piquepoul, even the Calitor and the Carignan. So, if you are tired of always tasting the same style of rosé, Tavel is made for you ! Already renowned at the time of the Avignon Popes, Tavel has survived the ages with its slender bottle, engraved with a T in crowned escutcheon.

These wines with a singular color and strong characters – I insist on the plural of characters -, transcend the seasons and dishes. They put up with the most fundamental oppositions : Earth and sea, hot and cold, raw and cooked or sweet and savory… and accompany you throughout the meal.

What to say about this event ?

You know it, this meeting of the vintages of Tavel echoes my attachment to gastronomic rosé wines and their varied styles !

Therefore, I went to Japanese restaurant Yuzuya In Lyon. In this neat and relaxed setting, the waiter therefore invites us to discover the menu prepared especially for the occasion. Obviously, the result is clear since each dish is as beautiful as it tastes. It was even difficult to tell the chef which one we preferred at the end of our experience…

The agreement the chef chose was for tuna tataki, but it is from aperitif to dessert that the Domaine des Muretins knew how to seduce us. The nose combining very fruity notes and more ripe and complex touches, offers great wealth. The palate slightly acidulous in attack, takes on a surprising scale before a long and spicy finish.

Nini's opinion : "I, who am not a fan of clear rosés, I was delighted to taste a Tavel again. The pairing with the tuna tataki was perfect, and it was a great opportunity to discover this great address in the 3rd district ! "

So you will have understood it, it was a wonderful experience that I was able to share with Nini from Frichtinini cooking blog. Tubula d'Automne is a great opportunity to discover or rediscover the value of Tavel vintages in food and wine pairings in the fall !
