We have to admit it, doing a weight training session at home is quickly painful and it is easy to quickly give up. In addition, we recently saw that wine was not equivalent to an hour of sport, as we could read in many publications. But then how can we do to combine the pleasure of wine and sport? ? April Storey has found the answer and her idea is starting to break through in American gyms.
How to combine wine and sport ?
April Storey is a well-being coach who has understood everything. "I have noticed that videos found on the Internet usually show athletes with perfect bodies doing extremely intimidating exercises.. But the majority of the population does not find themselves in this. Most of us are students, employees, mothers and fathers trying to balance having a healthy lifestyle while still enjoying the little things. "
She rose to prominence after posting a video on her Facebook profile last February. The principle is simple : use wine bottles as weights for fitness exercises or sip a sip of wine during exercise.
The video quickly went viral
While his other videos aren't hugely successful - all the same hundreds or even thousands of views —, the video you can see just below has racked up over 19 million views. Result, the press is talking about her, CNN or Fox 2 have reported on their wine sports program.
While the video certainly had a rather humorous significance, the fun and realistic side pleased. She admits it after being interviewed by The Observer, saying "people liked this video because they could relate to it.. And then it was funny ! "
You prefer to do yoga ?
April Storey is not the only one to combine alcohol and physical activity. It is possible in the United States to do a yoga session in breweries : the Brew-Ga. The goal is of course to bring conviviality to a sport that is often too lonely to stay motivated. After the session, participants meet around a glass of beer to discuss. Pour April Storey, these initiatives are important because they make it possible to democratize physical activity by infusing it with a cool side :
"I noticed that more and more sporting events incorporated this trend. And if offering people a beer after their workout helps motivate some people, well I tell myself that there is a worse trend. This could be a great way to educate people about a healthy lifestyle while showing them that you don't need to deprive yourself of the things you love., like beer or wine. We just have to do this with intelligence and moderation ".
The Observer also interviewed sports coach Lauren Imparato. The latter showed great interest in this new practice. Indeed, this coach is not her first try since she has been offering 7 years of RETOX sessions where participants come to play sports, but also have a drink and nibble on good things.
Its philosophy is incredibly appealing to anyone who has tried and failed to "be healthy". Imparato admits going out regularly and liking meat way too much to deprive himself of it.. His Retox book is designed to appeal to as many people as possible. The goal is to go against the popular misconception that to play sports such as bodybuilding it is essential to deprive yourself by eating only egg white and shakers of chemicals.
She explains : "If I created this concept, it's for a very simple reason : life. Life, is living in every sense of the word. Dogmas and restrictions are stressful things that are a thing of the past ”.
