There is nothing better than being able to relax with a glass of wine after a hard and stressful day at work. But for the artist Sanja Jankovic, a drink does not mean an end, but the beginning of an unexpected art. — and frankly it's beautiful ! —

Paint with wine : a bewitching art
We were already familiar with the paintings made with the rich, warm hues of coffee, but it turns out that red wine is also ideal for painting, because it also creates an impressive variety of colors.

Jankovic likes to paint with this drink because, she says, it’s a surprisingly unpredictable way of painting. According to the grape variety and the vintage, wine reacts differently on paper. In the same way as a sommelier, the artist observe the nuances of wine before painting. It can sometimes be purplish, sometimes brown depending on its evolution, its vintage or its grape variety.

Jankovic uses wine to make his own interpretations of classical paintings, as well as original pieces inspired by his favorite movies and TV shows. To create a table, the artist is forced to use several types of wine to obtain different tones. The color varies depending on the type of wine used. She of course uses red, but also white wine to achieve his works. The grape varieties she uses the most are Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
These paintings are different and intriguing not only because of the great variety of works represented ranging from Katsushika Hokusai to Leonardo da Vinci, but also because fermentation and oxidation cause the work to evolve over time with a slight color transition from red and purple to sepia tones.

According to her, the quality of the wine plays an important role in the quality of the colors of his works. The biggest difficulty with this way of painting is that a possible mistake cannot be corrected. The origin of this technique dates back to the Renaissance.
