So I take the secret passage leading to my secret cellar and slip into my lycra suit, put on my underpants and my cape to become SUPER FINE WINES !
Superheroes save the world - rather the United States - everyday, so i'm sure the weekend, to relax, they drink a small glass of wine. And here are the results of my investigation into the very closed circle of superheroes.
Which wine corresponds to which superhero ?
The superhero Batman and Syrah
Batman is the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one the city needs. He is a silent Guardian… who constantly watches over and protects. He's a Dark Knight. Child, Bruce Wayne witnessed his parents' murder in Crime Alley, an alleyway in Gotham City. Traumatized by this memory, he dedicated his life to becoming the most effective weapon in the fight against crime : Batman. Master detective and combat expert, Batman is also one of the smartest men in the world.. His mind is his best weapon. He has a plan adapted to each situation and has high-tech weapons, gadgets and vehicles that help him in his tireless quest for justice.
The grape variety that most resembles it is Syrah. The wines from this grape are dark and full-bodied, often very complex with aromas of black fruits like its costume and woody notes, spicy like its character. I'm sure Batman is drinking a Côtes-du-Rhône to chill out after handing the Joker back to Arkham ! — or after seeing Marion Cotillard die in Nolan's film —
Superman and Cabernet Sauvignon
In the superhero category who has too much power to imagine losing, he is a big winner. He is strong, indestructible, can shoot lasers with the eyes, want, Breath underwater, hear everything, see everything… — In short terms, too easy - He draws his powers from sunlight and weakens when he cannot access it. He is the representative par excellence of justice. The day, he is clark kent, journalist at the Daily Planet. Small, he lived in a small town, surrounded by cornfields, that smells of barbecue and baseball.
He needs a wine just as powerful as him, with a frank character, framed. Nothing better than a Carbernet Sauvignon to please him. A wine with blackcurrant and pepper aromas which, like our hero, requires a good dose of sun to offer all its power and which has a very long aging capacity.. If he invites you to a meal - a barbecue -, consider bringing him a wine from the South-West.
Catwoman and Semillon
When night falls the sensual Selina Kyle, Put on her super sexy black leather costume, she sharpens her claws and grabs her whip, to commit thefts under the pseudonym Catwoman. If a sedative isn't enough to calm the Hulk down, consider throwing him a wine made from the Aligoté grape variety. A wine renowned for its acidity and aromas of green apple - you see the connection with Hulk ? —. Lively and fresh, it will give a good slap to the Hulk and accompanied by crème de cassis, Bourgogne Aligoté will leave Bruce Banner zen for the aperitif.
The Flash et Gamay

Just like Barry Allen, it is a wine which does not take itself too seriously and which is perfectly suited to the quick and surprise visit of this guest.
Iron man et Pinotage
Anthony Stark, this is the friend we dream of hating. Self-centered billionaire, became a superhero more out of a taste for provocation than out of altruism, his second-degree humor and his sense of repartee make him as irresistible as he is annoying. After receiving mine shrapnel in the chest, he is obliged to make a device implanted in the thorax and an armor : this is the birth of Iron Man. This technological prowess gives it superhuman strength, extreme endurance, the ability to fly and a panoply of ultra-sophisticated weapons. His career, however, is much less glorious - we are lying to you ! - since his main occupation is to fight against the Communists during the Cold War…
Given his penchant for technology, he needs a modern wine, stuffed with science and just as rich as him. Preferably a red wine - to remind him of communism -. Why not turn to the Pinotage grape variety ? Create in 1925 in South Africa, it gives a powerful and full-bodied wine with aromas of plum, tobacco, blackberry, licorice and tar - yes… a guy has already tasted tar. I also read "aromas of embers" -.
