Recently, the prestigious Suze-la-Rousse Wine University has taken up residence in Lyon. To the delight of Lyon residents and passing tourists, she came with a series of wine-cultural courses and workshops. These are dedicated to the curious, to gourmets, wine lovers and lovers of the city of Lyon, capital of gastronomy !
Wine tasting courses at the University of Wine in Lyon
In order to discover all the secrets of wine tasting, the University of Wine offers various courses to perfect your knowledge.
Indeed, some of these training courses are intended for professionals. Here, I am thinking, for example, of the short training course to build an attractive wine list. Moreover, you can also enter the world of wine or get up to speed with training specific to wine regions.
Finally, others allow you to follow a diploma course and obtain the Professional Wine Taster Certificate from the University of Wine.
Amateur courses at the University of Wine in Lyon
Beyond “professional” training, the University of Wine offers internships accessible to all. Indeed, it also marks the beginnings of a new area where wine tourism and wine-cultural events are taking place in Lyon ! I invite you greatly to discover their program of amateur weekend courses full of surprises…
Obviously, you have the rather classic courses : food and wine pairings, Tour de France of wine-growing regions or an introduction to tasting Rhône wines… However, you also have much more original courses : wines and cinema, or even a gourmet stroll… For my part, I had the opportunity to try the gourmet stroll "Les Secrets de la Croix-Rousse" which I will tell you about here.
The gourmet stroll "The Secrets of the Croix-Rousse"
This gourmet stroll on the slopes of Croix-Rousse is above all a person : Mauro Cos. Recently graduated from the University of Wine, he is in charge of wine tourism and wine culture in Lyon. True lover of the city's heritage and of course of wine, he passionately communicates his knowledge to the small group he guides through the city.
Like me, you are curious to discover the secrets of Lyon and its traboules or even the hidden parks of the Croix-Rousse hill ? This tour is clearly made for you !
This stroll through the secrets and history of the city is also a good pretext to discover or rediscover the wines produced as close as possible to Lyon. A real journey through time that reminds us that Lyon is indeed THE capital of gastronomy and crossroads of vineyards and wine !
A journey between discovery and tasting
On the program of this course of 3,6 kilometers from Place Sathonay and going to Gros Caillou, through the Court of Voraces and the Amphitheater of the Three Gauls, many discoveries await you. A first stop halfway will give you the opportunity to taste two white wines. At the end of your journey, a gourmet stopover awaits you in the Parc de la Cerisaie. You can discover three red wines, accompanied by regional and Lyon nibbles in Les Vignes de La République des Canuts.
