Our smartphone now gives us access to a wealth of information. From the most serious to the most wacky, almost everything is possible thanks to the thousands of applications available ! The wine sector is no exception. Buying fine wines with our phone has become easy.
But how to navigate among this myriad of applications ? To help you, here are the best wine app ’ 2020 selected by Beaux-Vins.
Raisin : The nature wine app
The fashion for natural wine, if we can talk about fashion, can be found on our smartphone screens. The Raisin application will be your best ally in the quest for the natural wine of your dreams !
This application is a real encyclopedia of places dedicated to natural wines in the world. Raisin identifies establishments that must, to be listed, propose a minimum of 30% of natural wines in their selection. You will therefore find the best addresses of wine merchants there., wine bars and restaurants in line with this movement.
The application does not stop there since it also lists events dedicated to natural wine. You will be able to discover the happiness that natural wines can provide and meet the people behind them..
Thanks to the label scanning system, you can check whether the wine you are holding in your hands is a natural wine. In sum, a wine that corresponds well to the idea we have of a wine that respects the environment and people. The team behind this application used certain criteria from the Natural Wine Association to build a wine classification charter. In a few seconds, you will be able to know if the wine is natural, organic or biodynamic, or conventional.

Ploc : manage your wine cellar
Rarely won over by cellar management applications, I gave up on the idea of installing one on my phone for a long time. It was without counting on the discovery of the Ploc application !
Matthieu and Myriam Ducrocq used the experience acquired by their previous Open Cellar application to best meet the expectations of wine lovers.
Ploc brings a fresh perspective to cellar management applications with a clean design and practical features : detailed wine sheets, rating of the wines tasted and management of your cellar… everything is there ! The big plus of cellar management lies in the possibility of indicating the peak period of the wine, information that you quickly forget after buying a bottle.

Wine Journal : news in real time
Journal du vin is certainly the least known application of this selection and yet it is a real mine of information for all wine enthusiasts..
Faced with the flood of information we can find on the Internet, Sébastien had the brilliant idea of compiling news from specialized sites, blog, YouTube videos, podcasts ou tweets.
He himself selects the sources from which the content comes to keep only quality information. And since Sébastien is a nice guy, he shares it all with us in a free application without ads !
Journal du vin is a news feed that I often use to stay connected with what's going on in the wine world… And you know what ? Beaux-Vins is in the news feed of blogs. Enough to keep an eye on the latest news from your favorite wine blog.

WineListening : wine and music pairings
Wine Listening is an application that allows you to do a musical tasting of your wine. You don't see the connection between wine and music ? Research has proven that the music listened to during a tasting affects the taste of the taster.
Take a picture of your wine label. Wine Listening will analyze the organoleptic characteristics of the wine and create the right playlist for you.
Even skeptical of the role that music can play in how we feel about a wine, this application allows you to listen to music that you are not used to. A good way to make musical discoveries over a glass of wine !
The downside I can give to this app, however, is that it is only linked to Spotify. To fully enjoy Wine Listening, you must therefore have a premium account on Spotify…

The Wine Quiz by La RVF
The Wine Quiz is a free application developed by La Revue du Vin de France for smartphones and tablets. It allows you to challenge friends or other players one on one and learn about the world of wine while having fun. A game developed by La RVF allowing you to test your knowledge and challenge other players… what more ?
This application is in fact a total flop in the world of applications dedicated to wine. On paper everything looks beautiful, especially when La RVF announces the winning of a bottle each week for the best player. In fact, this quiz is far from aesthetic, some answers are frankly not very credible, the application crashes very often and the icing on the cake : creating an account is a real challenge that I still haven't been able to meet !
In short, an application that systematically makes me want to open the following one.
Forget this app and go for the next one !
Abacchus : wine, accords, quiz…
Abacchus was born out of a wine lover's willingness to share with all wine enthusiasts who think there is so much to discover and who need a little help ! Abacchus is a free app developed by the Touraineer Pascal Pediroda.
9% French people have a wine application on their mobile and it is in my opinion essential ! The objective of this application is to have all the information on the world of wine at your fingertips.
Abacchus contains data on more than 1,760 appellations, around forty countries and over 4,500 wines. The idea is to have a short sheet on each subject with simple and clear terms. The app is filled with information sheets on wine regions, producers, food and wine pairings, grape varieties and general knowledge. It also lists more than 3’000 wine merchants to find those near you.
The Abacchus app has a feature you'll love : the quiz ! It will allow you to test your knowledge. When your answer is wrong, the application offers you to read the information sheet concerning the question to improve your knowledge. The more you answer correctly to the questions asked about food and wine pairings, wine regions, vinification … the more features of the application you will unlock.
You get the point, this application is the favorite of Beaux-Vins !

Great article ! Glad to read it en primeurs ! 😉
I discovered the wine news ! Very practical indeed rather than going to each of these sites. Thank you !
Hello, a clarification. Wine listening also works with free Spotify accounts. cheers and thx for this article!
Thank you for this clarification, it is true that one can use Spotify free. But, it is much less interesting than with a premium account.
The ideal would have been to be able to use other music platforms !
cheers
we are working on it;)
