We already knew about Arsenic Pudding thanks to Asterix and Cleopatra, mais connaissiez-vous le vin à l’arsenic ? The information was reported by the Canadian press following a study conducted by the Journal of Environmental Health.

Drinking one of these wines regularly would bring less 12 % recommended daily amounts of arsenic. In comparison, apple juice represents 25 % of the recommended intake and the rice reaches thresholds up to 101 % !
More worrying than arsenic, the study revealed excessive amounts of lead in 5 % some samples.
the answer was not long in coming
The response from the organization representing the California winegrowers was more than rapid as this afternoon the site Thedrinbusiness.com gave us the opinion of the California Wine Institute.
In a document titled "How Worried People Should Be (or not) arsenic in wine ", la Wine Institute of California (WIC) denounces financially motivated propaganda and asserts that all wines sold in the United States are completely safe and consumers should not be worried about drinking them.

According to the organization, the authorities regularly test the wines to ensure the absence of toxic products - including arsenic - in wine. This study seems questionable since it reveals contradictory results compared to previously conducted studies on the level of arsenic in wine.
The Liquor Control Board of Ontario, appelé Liquor Control Board of Ontario, I tested in 2014 not less than 2 247 california wines. The arsenic level highlighted by this study is well below the results obtained by the University of Washington.
Denise Wilson, the head of the "punch" study, demanded that more stringent control procedures be put in place in the "health and safety rules", but for the institute these rules are sufficient to guarantee the health of consumers.
